2009 first semester and my subjects

About two more weeks and the first semester of the year 2009 commences and I've already decided what subjects to study.

I'd like to specialize in the Internet and Web Development, and the Software Engineering fields, so I'll be studying units from both specializations as well as a unit from the data management specialization. In the Master of Information Technology (MIT), there are 9 specializations and each specialization consists of 4 units. Therefore, if you want to be a spceaialized in a particular specialization or more, you need to study the units that belong to that one.

The units that I'm going to study in this semester are as follows: Component technology for internet applications - Web services and service oriented computing - System validation and verification, quality and standards - Advanced programming for database applications.

I already read some details about each unit and I'll write about them in a very short details:

Component technology for internet applications: This unit gives the needed skills to develop software systems that operate and interact with each other via the Internet. These systems must communicate with objects written in different programming languages and excuting on different platforms.

Web services and service oriented computing: This unit belongs to both specializations. We're going to study the Services Oriented Computing paradigm, web services technology, Enterprise Architecture Integration, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), SOAP, WSDL, UDDI.

System validation and verification, quality and standards: A software engineering unit which includes topics about processes, tools and techniques for system validation and verification. Also we learn how to predict, analyse and control defects in complex software systems.

Advanced programming for database applications: This is a data management unit. It gives the skills to develop large database applications with various topics like advanced queries, importing and exporting data, customizing forms and professional reporting.

It seems to be that it needs a very very very hard work. So, Wish me luck.
